They have also taught and shared their medical expertise through academic appointments at leading medical institutions, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the University of Florida.

Kenneth Spalding, MD, MBA
Director of Pediatric Anesthesiology
Dr. Spalding is the Medical Director for the division of Pediatric Anesthesiology. His exceptional training includes triple board certification: general pediatrics, anesthesiology, and pediatric critical care. His residency and fellowship training were all from the University of Florida where he was also an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics. Prior to joining JLR his clinical experience focus included Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Nemours Cardiac Center. He has served on the JLR Board of Directors, both as Vice President and Vice Chairman. He completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and his MBA at the University of South Florida.
Christopher Lancaster, MD
Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology
Dr. Lancaster joined JLR to launch the Pediatric Open Heart program at Florida Hospital for Children. Board certified in pediatrics as well as anesthesiology and pediatric critical care, and board-eligible in pediatric anesthesiology, he has extensive experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology and pediatric cardiac critical care. He currently serves as the Medical Director for Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology and is on the Pediatric Cardiovascular Planning Committee at Florida Hospital. Prior to coming to Florida, he served as an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University. Dr. Lancaster has written several chapters for textbooks, has made numerous conference presentations and has multiple peer-review articles published. He completed a combined fellowship in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatric Anesthesiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, he participated in basic science research and is also a published author in lung injury and high-frequency ventilation strategies. Dr. Lancaster completed his residency in general pediatrics at University of California San Francisco - Fresno, and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California.
