Ravi Bissessar, MD
Chief of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Division, Director of Cardiothoracic Transplant and Director of Liver Transplant
Dr. Bissessar has transplant anesthesiology expertise in the perioperative management of liver, kidney, pancreas, heart and lung transplantation. This includes complex cardiac cases, adult and pediatric congenital anomalies, minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, cardiac transplant, and management of ventricular assist devices. In addition to his current position, he has served on JLR’s board of directors as well as numerous other clinical and operations committees. Dr. Bissessar completed his fellowship in Cardiothoracic and Critical Care at Duke University Medical College in Durham, North Carolina, as well as a board certification in echocardiography. Prior to that, he received Diplomate in Anesthesiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was Chief Resident. He earned his medical degree, and his bachelor of science degree in biochemistry and molecular science from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Jared Weiner, MD
Director of Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device Anesthesiology
A native of Central Florida, Dr. Weiner returned to his hometown when he joined JLR in 2006. He helped start the heart/lung transplant program at Florida Hospital and continues to serve as one of its medical directors. He also participates in JLR’s advanced orthopaedic anesthesiology program, providing advanced regional anesthesia to help minimize pain in orthopaedic patients. Dr. Weiner was a clinical instructor in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, prior to joining JLR. He completed his anesthesiology residency and cardiothoracic fellowship at Emory.
